Description

Lord Bhairav is a form of Lord Shiva which breaks down fear. It is believed that Lord Bhairav liberates his devotees from greed, lust and wrath. According to the purans, Lord Bhairav was created by Lord Shiva to destroy the devils between the asuras and the devas. Bhairava represents 64 forms grouped into 8 categories referred to as Astanga Bhairavas controlling the 8 directions of the manifest world. The Bhairavas are under the control of Kala Bhairava, the Supreme Ruler of Universe Time. Bhairava is regarded as the protector of timid and weak women in particular and His idols are installed in most Hindu temples.
